Origin:
Lam Dong Province
Growth conditions:
- Laba bananas are only suitable for climatic and soil conditions in the Lam Dong Plateau - cool place all year round, large temperature difference between day and night.
- Best quality when planted at an altitude of 1000m - 1500m above sea level.
- The slow growing time must be after 12 -15 months after planting to harvest (Other bananas are harvested sooner than 8-10 months after planting).
- According to research by Japanese scientists:
The longer the banana growing time, the more sweetness increases, the harvesting time of bananas in the Central Highlands is usually 3 months slower than the low ones. Bananas grown in the highlands have 1.8 times more vitamin C than lowland bananas. Moreover, eating bananas in the uplands will increase the immunity of leukocytes to 1.7 times that of lowland bananas. Thus, the slow harvest time of a banana not only makes it sweeter, but also has a high nutrition, so its value also tends to increase.
Identifying characteristics:
- Laba Banana with the Banana Pepper family, international name: Cavendish (also called the old banana, Dwarf banana) should have a similar shape, if not experienced very easily confused with this banana.
